In the Little Dragons learning community, teachers, staff, administrators, parents, and community members collaborate to ensure a positive and safe learning environment while building a strong academic and social-emotional foundation for lifelong learning

Our Early Learning Program is comprised of two different education offerings. CSCSHC is committed to Early Childhood Education by offering developmental preschool for 3 and 4-year-olds and Pre-Kindergarten programming for 4-year-olds.

Pre-Kindergarten Program

The Pre-Kindergarten programming is available for children who are 4 years old on or before August 1. The Pre-Kindergarten curriculum will be developmentally appropriate for 4-year-olds. Classes will meet Monday through Thursday, with either an AM or PM placement. Transportation will not be provided. This is a fee-based program. NOTE: The Early Childhood program only runs at New Palestine Elementary School.

A full-day option is available through our Pre-K Plus program. This covers the remainder of a student's day on Monday-Thursday and a full day on Friday. Fees for Pre-K Plus are in addition to tuition and fees in Pre-K. Before and after-school care is available through the YMCA program.

If you have questions about our Early Childhood program, please contact Early Childhood Coordinator Cheryl Rose at or Early Childhood Registrar Amber Rush at

Pre-Kindergarten Roundup

Pre-Kindergarten Roundup is scheduled for Wednesday, March 7 from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at New Palestine Elementary. Families do not need to attend the entire event. Feel free to visit at any time during that window to learn about Pre-K. You may register for Pre-K at the event or anytime after. Registration for 2023-2024 is currently closed.

Developmental Preschool Program

The Southern Hancock Little Dragons Developmental Preschool Program supports 3-year-olds who have been identified for special education services.

Developmental Preschool meets for 2 half-days per week, (either Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs,) for 3.5 hours each day. Placement is determined by the classroom teacher.

  • Morning session:  8:20-11:20

  • Afternoon session: 12:15-3:15

The Developmental Preschool curriculum supports the achievement of early learning milestones for school readiness, including:

• Pre-kindergarten readiness skills (counting, sorting, labeling, matching, etc.)
• Social and emotional skills to facilitate play with peers and establishing classroom procedures
• Communication skills to support social interaction (turn-taking, sharing, asking and answering questions), functional skills (listening, following directions, making requests, responding to requests), and articulation of sounds;
• Gross and fine motor development to ensure students can navigate the school environment and develop pre-writing habits
• Self-help and independence

Do not use the online registration process for these programs. Due to the evaluative process needed for these programs, you will need to contact Early Childhood Coordinator Cheryl Rose at or Developmental Preschool Teacher Janet Antle
